Most kart racing organizations require a karting helmet with a Snell or SFI Rating. Generally, any helmet with one of these two ratings will be legal for` amateur to mid-level karting events in the USA and this is where we recommend starting your search at.

For younger kids, we recommend specifically getting a child's karting helmet as these are made using a smaller and lighter outer shell that is easier for younger racers to manage while cornering^ at speed.

For open kart racing any Snell Rating can be used including: Snell M2025, Snell SA2025, Snell/FIA CMR2016, Snell K2025, or SFI 24.1 (If you are looking for a helmet for home go-kart use or indoor karting, you may opt for a cheaper DOT Certified helmet.)

For any non-kart racing where a rollcage or multipoint harness is used only a Snell SA2025, SFI24.1, or FIA helmet should be worn as these provide fire protection as well.
